Help China

Help China reduce its carbon footprint. Stop buying their products, their production will go down there by reducing carbon output.

it makes sense to act

Hey, let's assume all those scientists are wrong- worst case- we act to curb our reliance on dwindling fossil fuels and move to renewables... sounds like a good idea to me.

Now let's assume they are right... either way on the balance of risks it makes sense to ween ourselves of fossil fuels.

I have trouble taking you seriously.

I think people like you want to push us all back to the pre-industrial era. Carbon Trading is a TAX! It really amounts to world socialism, or more precisely world Marxism. Maybe those who support this trash just wish to continue to be supported through life by society without the inconvenience of working. Penny Wrong is nothing but an idealogue who likes to say "the science is settled" followed by a stoppage of all debate. KRudd is just sucking up to his Chinese masters. I guess that suits the rest of you because I do not think you have any idea what you are talking about. You want a new world order, but are you prepared to have your quality of life severely reduced so you can give some money to an African? Are you prepared to live without "baseload" electricity?
If you wish to convince me re CO2 causing climate change (why not Global Warming?) please provide the frequencies (wavelengths) at which CO2 reflects energy along with the frequency bands of eater, NOx, Hydrocarbons etc. Then, tell me the wavelengths (frequencies) over which all energy is radiated from the Earth. Don't try to lie either, I have a basic idea as it is.

waffle and poppycock? who knows!!! ;-)

Dear rrvau,

i don't like to give trolls any energy, however, your funny little post was just too tempting.
you have tried to create FEAR with waffle and poppycock. cute!

You really must think that the majority are stupid?
i am convinced of the compete opposite.
However, on recent history... Fear WORKS :-(

Clever...
so i will reply... just this ONCE.

Investing in solar and wind infrastructures on households helps every single Australian, both financially and in lowering their electricity needs from the grid - our "Base Load" supply.

how can that hurt the average person or the environment?

Obviously you refute that climate change is happening and are prepared to continue to pollute the way you are now and always have been... fine... nothing to stop you doing that.

You ALSO (ethically) do not have to have anything to do with the free/extremly cheap sustainable infrastructure which will be available as a flow on from the above carbon price for your abode. Though if this proposal gets the green light, you would be able to.

Rest assured that nothing is about to seriously interfere with your precious supplies of black coal fired "base load".

Our black coal supply is NOT going anywhere soon. We have LOTS of black coal here, that is for sure and certain (a FACT).
However, in reality, our supply IS finite.
20 years ago when i worked in the Supply & Analysis Dpt of Ampol Petroleum Ltd, their Senior Analyst advised me that we had at least ~80-120 years supply.

One day it will Peak, costs will soar and it DOES pollute!
That you cannot deny.

There is no harm in weaning ourselves, now. Surely you can see that generous government intensives to do so smoothly and safely are a GREAT IDEA for every Australian resident?
Preparing for that day when our Coal fired base load is no longer reliable can do us NO HARM.

As for your words "carbon tax"... the Australian Greens have proposed a carbon CHARGE of $20 per tonne to the worst 1000 carbon polluters. Do you understand the difference between a "charge" and a "tax"?
Just in case you do not, to clarify for you:
- A "charge" is something our government bills a company or corporation with for providing a "service".
Corporations do not VOTE, they LOBBY.
- A "tax" is something that individuals pay to the government, then the elected government effectively ADMINISTERS those taxes to provide good infrastructures for the VOTERS.
Individuals VOTE.

So the carbon charge is not going to be imposed on YOU or I... unless of course you own BHP?
Why should our Government NOT charge the worst polluters? Yes they are providing a service, but they must pay for the clean up.
Such a charge is just and fair.

Why should our government protect these industries at the expense of the individual voter?

The only downside to this proposal is that the biggest polluters will flow that cost down on to the consumer - obviously base load energy power costs will rise - meaning you and i will pay more for our base load power supplies - that is until every single household and building is equipped for solar and wind energy generation.(except yours of course).

Yes, the wonderful upsides to this proposal;
the carbon price government revenue will allow us to be able to install (through subsidies) our own free standing, independent, sustainable, clean energy supplies (via solar/wind) - from ETERNAL, INFINITE, CLEAN SOURCES - the sun and the wind - with surplus energy fed back into the grid.
Said "surplus energy" will bring down the flow on rises in base load supply from the 1000 worst polluters.

A happy little circle where, in the end, no one pays more apart from the worst polluters.

Has the added bonus of being a BRILLIANT incentive to lower their pollution levels too, don't you think? ;-)

You asked "please provide the frequencies (wavelengths) at which CO2 reflects energy along with the frequency bands of eater, NOx, Hydrocarbons etc. Then, tell me the wavelengths (frequencies) over which all energy is radiated from the Earth. Don't try to lie either, I have a basic idea as it is."

I won't lie to you, the above paragraph sounds like a load of waffling bullshit.
I shouldn't waste my time on it, but it really is quite funny!

So, my reply:
Are you lazy? the net is available to you... GO FIND OUT YOURSELF!
By all means feel free to post more waffle and poppycock proving your peer-reviewed-scientific-point. Please prove to me that i am wrong.
Please let me know i can pull down this website and get on with more interesting things.
Let me know i can continue to pollute our planet as can the countless generations that will follow me along the same path.
Let me know that the polar bears are gonna be ok, that there will be no more species extinctions...
that there will be no great floods, no uncontrollable fires, no harmful cyclones, no further innundations of pest species, that our climate is stable, it is not fluctuating wildly, let me know that no human or animal will die due to our over use of carbon energy supplies...
Let me know that humanity is going ok, and that we can remain on this dirty trail of deception and pollution forever and for all time - and we have EVERYTHING TO FEAR if we have free, sustainable, clean, energy supplies.

i have no desire to continue a conversation with you based on poppycock waffle and absolute bullshit. Wake up.

and that, my dear rrvau, is all the free energy you will get from me.

Cheers ;-)
