THE COAL SEAM GAS CODE OF PRACTICE – SUBMISSION

The Coal Seam Gas Code of Practice (CSGCOP) cannot stop environmental incidents,

- nor can a CSGCOP ensure what is now clean water will remain that way.

- nor can a CSGCOP hope to restore poisoned water back to the way it
is now. I read about reverse osmosis, though, why poison what
currently exists then try to clean it when poisoned, or replace it
with an artificial, expensive and unreliable process or a "supplied
and delivered" product afterwards?

- nor can a CSGCOP ensure that tailings pond liners never overflow,
break, crack, rot or leak.

- nor can a CSGCOP ensure that no evaporation of chemicals will cause
the air to be polluted,

- or that floods or natural disasters will never cause an accident or incident.

- nor can a CSGCOP stop human error.

- nor can a CSGCOP reliably predict the short or long term
consequences of every single well.

When dealing with nature in such an unnatural way, disasters are
highly likely and have already happened, both here and overseas.
Though i am sure you are well aware of those incidents.

As thriving & vibrant communities are being destroyed, adverse health
impacts are observed and our waters, rivers and underground aquifers
are put at unnecessary risk, our food bowls are laid to waste and
complete ecosystems are being poisoned, you people fiddle about with a CSGCOP?

I find this quite mind boggling!

How is this fair representation of "for the good of the people"? The
same people you were put into an honourable position of power to
represent?

In summary, it is my view that any ripping up & poisoning of our
mother earth for dirty FINITE energy is stupid.

Rather than frameworks & licenses to enable pollution and destruction,
we need legislation to "Lock the Gate". It is time those elected to
represent the people actually got off their backsides and BANNED COAL
SEAM GAS!
Coal mines are also out of control and are destroying and trampling
once thriving rural communities.

This wonderful nation and her inhabitants have been raped and pillaged enough.

Solution:
Ban Coal Seam Gas.
No New Coal.
Transition time. Price on pollution = BUILD the manufacturing industry
the world needs for sustainable clean energy - supplied via an
INFINITE totally natural feedstock.

Very sad to see Bob retiring. He is an inspiration to so many. A man of persistent conviction, strength, fortitude, courage and outstanding ethics. I'm sure he will continue in his pursuit to ensure a fairer, cleaner, greener nation and planet for many years to come, from outside of politics.

I hear he will be visiting Miranda in her Tassie tree sit as soon as he is able.

This would be a great time to stick to your promise and instantly protect the 430,000 hectares of high conservation value forests in Tasmania under the Intergovernmental Agreement. Sticking to promises seems so lacking in Politics. No wonder the Greens continue to grow. Would certainly be a nice bob-voyage gift.

i have signed a petition to Japan Councils, Incineration facilities (and others) who may have some sway in decisions made about Japan's Nuclear waste, in the hope that radioactive rubble is not burnt (and hence, x-contaminate further)..
When i posted this link to my Facebook account yesterday there were 150 or so signatures. That has grown through cross posting to some 50 thousand people by around 100. This an embarrassment.
