PM's policy punishes women

While women in the Australian Parliament consolidate cross-party legislative powers, the policies of misogynist Prime Minister John Howard continue to marginalise and punish half the nation's citizens.

"The gender pay gap in the private-sector full-time labour market is widening, as is the gap between those on awards and those in the bargaining stream", according to a report by the Women in Social and Economic Research group at Curtin Business School.

Moreover, "The potential exists for gender inequities to grow."

Considering we left on a wing and a prayer (with NO funds), we feel a great sense of accomplishment.

My kids (Scott 13, and Natalie, 18) had a wonderful time.

As did our dogs - Lady (a highly active and skittish female six month old rottie/border collie cross) and Chief (a 2 year old blue/border collie cross).
It was very "comfy" in Natalie's little 20 year old toyota hatchback.

Queensland Director of Public Prosecutions, Leanne Clare, has failed to lay /any/ charges against the police officer responsible for the death of Palm Island man Mulrinji on November 19, 2004.

Less than 2 months earlier, the Qld Deputy Coroner, Christine Clements, found that Mulrinji was beaten by Senior Seargent Chris Hurley, such that he sustained 4 broken ribs and his liver was sliced almost in two.

Join this demonstration to demand justice for Mulrinji, the suspension of DPP Leanne Clare and the laying of the highest-level criminal charges against Chris Hurley.

Goodooga (NSW) Michael Anderson, leader of the Euahlayi Nation and spokesperson for the Gumilaroi Nation, has accused Australian governments of
'not having the intestinal fortitude to stand against the multi-nationals who seek to destroy Aboriginal culture'.

He was commenting on the destruction of ancient Aboriginal rock art by
industry in the Burrup Peninsula (or Murrijuga by its Indigenous name).

Climate change is happening because of our global overuse of our precious resources. We (our "civilised" societies, our governments, our private businesses) have been using, selling, exploiting and wasting our finite resources for way too long, in a selfish and uncaring way with little to no thought for future generations or the state in which we/they leave our planet, a place who's resources we all must share, EQUALLY and FAIRLY.

99 Year Aboriginal Land Leases

The Australian government is currently trying to push through legislation forcing native title holders to lease their land.

This is not a good situation. The proposed legislation has been condemned all over the world, by organisations such as Oxfam.

Basically, it means Indigenous traditional owners would be paid rent for their land for 99 year leases.
